Want to Get Rid of the Tire? You’ve Got to Sweat

with one comment

00 PM/1300.

On the hottest day of the year (thus far), I pounded 6.6 miles of pavement. That’s two loops at Prospect Park, pumping the whole time. I’m pretty proud, considering last year when I first started riding, I would have to stop a few times, particularly on the incline as you finish the loop.

I’ll of course write a proper ode to my bike some time soon but it’s probably the best thing I’ve bought since I bought my Powerbook back in August 2005. With this enthusiasm, I’ve completed an 18-mile ride called the Tour de Brooklyn and am looking forward to several rides with Bike New York, Transportation Alternatives, and Time’s Up. The biggest of which will be New York City Century in September.

My next ride will be Bike New York’s Long Island Harbor’s Ride. I’m deciding between the 50-mile or the 75-mile right now. I would love for any readers to join me and my friends.

  1. You forgot to mention the nagging encouragement from yours truly. Jolly good time risking heat exhaustion just to see some ducks.
